The John Hewitt Society, Summer School 2018

Last month I was lucky enough to receive a bursary from The Department of Foreign Affairs to attend the The John Hewitt Society summer school 2018.

It was a really wonderful week, from which I benefited massively both creatively and personally.

I met so many other talented writers, made new friends and developed work whilst attending workshops with Siobhan Campbell.

As someone originally from a border county, I became better informed on how these border politics in NI inform both literature and art from that time and area.

I heard so much new poetry that made me cry/laugh/squirm, and ultimately bought so many books that my suitcase broke on the way home.

This photo was taken on the final night when I read at the workshop showcase.
